Local Cambridge Talent Hits the Street for Oxjam 2014

Back by popular demand! The Oxjam Cambridge Takeover team has decided to host another Buskathon on 11th October 2014. Not only is it a great warm up for the Oxjam Takeover on 18th October 2014, but also if you were one of the disappointed individuals who missed out - you get another chance!

The last Buskathon provided an atmosphere that was electric in Cambridge as local musicians took to the streets to perform and raise funds for Oxjam 2014.
Volunteers from the Oxjam Cambridge Takeover and the public pulled together with a variety of performers to ensure Cambridge shoppers were delightfully entertained on 2nd August 2014.

Jack ‘The Lad’ Frimston, Matt ‘The Mirror’ Pickersgill and Aaron ‘Smurph’ Murphey make up the cheeky trio known as ‘The Tailormade’. Influences ranging from Rizzle Kicks, Paolo Nutini and Ed Sheerin, these boys know how to entertain the crowd.
We were lucky to have these guys for our first Buskathon in aid of Oxjam 2014, as the group are taking a break for gigging to work on their debut single ‘suit up’. Keep your eyes peeled as these guys are ones to watch!

Another group to watch is ‘Screen People’; Alie Pavlitski, Ed Robinson and Becca Robinson continue to wow Cambridge with their fresh sound.
Having previously topped the Cambridge 105fm unsigned chart, Screen People are always ready to perform and have just played at this year’s Buzz Festival at The Corner House, Cambridge. Make sure you look them up so you don’t miss any future tour dates.

The Buskathon increased visibility of the untapped musical talent available in Cambridge and raised a fantastic £156.00 for Oxfam. Oxjam Cambridge Takeover Manager, Izzy Maxwell-Watts said;

"We truly entertained the Cambridge shoppers! What a fantastic group of local artists, not even the rain could dampen the spirits of our performers. Thank you to everyone involved and all those who donated! I can't wait for the next one"

Oxjam Cambridge Volunteers Coordinator, Natalie Stock said;

“Fantastic atmosphere and community spirit demonstrated by all the bands and public of Cambridge at the buskathon proving that local music can indeed give a global impact"
