The sun was shining; the venue was packed, so perfect for
our Oxjam girls to spread the word about the Oxjam Cambridge Takeover and our
youth event Teenjam.
We met some great
music lovers and the atmosphere was family friendly and very relaxed. It was
the perfect combination for a wonderful weekend.
A big shout out is deserved to ACT
Addenbrookes Charitable Trust and their mascot who our takeover manager, Izzy
Maxwell Watts couldn’t resist a selfie opportunity!
This was Lodestar’s sixth year since conception and has gone
built on its success year on year with musical talents such Sir Bob Geldof and
The Magic Numbers hitting the stage in previous years. The festival is built on
the professional staff and keen volunteers who work hard and take great
pleasure in helping making this event a success. The music covers a variety of
genres and presents a unique international program that keeps the line-up fresh
and exciting.
This year was no exception to the musical
variety that Lodestar has to offer. One of our favourites was The Staycation; a
4 piece under 18’s indie folk band from Cambridgeshire. They had a fresh sound
and were a big crowd pleaser and had no limit to amount of people who queued up
after their set to pick up their EP. Another crowd favourite was London based
singer/songwriter, Charlie Hole. He made the crowd swoon with his tales of
love, loss and reminding us that ‘you are never too old to die young’.
So all in all the festival was incredible! Great food, great
music and most importantly a great atmosphere where you can feel free to roam
all the tents and get a true feel and experience that Lodestar continues to
deliver…
And let’s not forget the awesome
face painting!
